Taylor Mason has put any early signs of nerves behind her as she steps into a new role at the Navarre Netball Club.

Mason was earlier this month announced as the joint coach of the A grade team with Caitlyn Murphy.

If the job in itself wasn't enough pressure, imagine vying for a fifth straight premiership and all at the age of 19.

Originally Mason had decided she would leave Navarre at the end of the 2016 season, but when club legend and out going coach Jess Parry made her decision to go Mason felt obliged to stay.

“I had made my decision to leave Navarre at the end of last year,” Mason said.

“But when Jess made her decision to leave, I couldn't do that to Navarre. Jess needed to do what she did for her family and I had to stay for Navarre.”

Mason is happy with her decision to stay on and the coaching role is an additional bonus.

Mason is expecting to fill the void of Parry both on and off the court.

Although young in age Mason is confident she has enough experience at a senior level to continue the development of Navarre.

“I have a lot of experience playing senior netball,” Mason said. “I won my first premiership at 13. If you know your stuff people will listen and so far the club and all the players have been very supportive of me.”

“I had made my decision to leave Navarre ... but when Jess made her decision to leave, I couldn't do that to Navarre. Jess needed to do what she did for her family and I had to stay for Navarre.”

Although teams are yet to be decided and try-outs have only just began, the club is confident they can contest another premiership.

Premiership defender Sophie Flood will return to the court following the birth of her first child.

Navarre have announced all other coaches except for 15s who is yet to be appointed.

B Grade will be coached by Trish Moloney and Nicole Harding. C Grade welcomes new coach Lori McKenny with assistants Teagan Comitti and Shae Hannett.

The Under 17’s will be led by Lynne Jensz and Under 13’s by Leonie Bibby.

“I am really excited to work with everyone and hopefully have some success.”
