The Lakers has defeated the Hornets on two separate occasions this season but each time the deficit has stood at less than six points.
The Hornets will travel to Mount Gambier to take on the side that finished second on the table.
The Hornets will need to break down the strong defensive structure of the Lakers that boast the second best defensive record in the league.
That should not be a problem for the Hornets though as the Horsham side have scored the most amount of points in the league with 1070.
After a year of setbacks the side is finally back to a full roster with returning co-captain Alexandra Brack the headliner.
Coach Gareth Hiscock said this would be only the second time in the whole season the side has a full roster.
“Alexandra will be coming back after a while not playing, she probably will be a bit rusty but just her physical presence is great for us on the court,” he said.
The Lakers hold the key to a secret weapon, a weapon called Tanille Gray.
Gray is leading the points tally throughout the league with 244 points to her name, where she is also second in averaging points a game with 20.33.
Hiscock said his side matched up well with Gray.
“We will look to hurt her defensively,” he said.
“There will be a couple players that will go up against her head-to-head but we will try to slow her down by working her defensively.”
Hiscock said this year, he wanted finals training to be as normal as possible.
“We will have a good solid session this week and try to keep it normal,” he said.
“Last year a couple players got a bit rattled.”
After getting a full roster for the first time in 2017 Hiscock said it was in the team’s hands.
“It is a perfect time to have everyone return from trips or from injury,” he said.
“But now we will have no excuse if we lose.
“Mount Gambier has a right to be confident seeing they beat us twice this year but finals are a different ball game.
“Each time we played them it was one or two shots difference so it will come down to who handles the pressure better and who converts their chances.”
Hiscock said he understood that he needed certain players to show up in this game but expected it to be a team effort.
“Sophie Alexander is a standout player right now for us and Sophie Iredell is in the form of her career,” he said.
“It will be good if Georgia Hiscock can have a strong game on the scoreboard but what we really need is an even spread.
“We can’t rely on individuals all of the time.
“It will be down to who performs better on the day.”
