Wildcats took on Millicent on Saturday night and despite giving them an early lead the Wildcats were able to fight back.
Jason Cameron returned to the Wildcats after the birth of his second child and was better for the additional week off.
Cameron was clean with his skills around the basket and rebounded well on his way to 14 points.
Stawell youngster Paul Summers teamed up with Ararat’s Sam Cronin and Dom Didomenico applying plenty of pressure and causing Millicent to turn the ball over.
Summers scored 12 points while Cronin was the next best with 10.
Wildcats lost 55-68.
On Sunday Stawell took on Corio Bay and Paul Hutchinson took the game away from the them.
Hutchinson used his experience to outclass Stawell’s defence on his way to 38 points.
Josh Fiegert led the way for Stawell with 19 points while Angus Murry scored 12.
For the Wildcats it was a winless season, but they have still shown a vast improvement and their coach Jarred Ohayon is pleased with the progress they have made.
“We didn’t win a game which is really disappointing for the association, but we have come a long way again this season,” he said.
“We have given some younger players minutes and developed a new game style around our bigs and guards. It would have been nice to get a bit more reward for effort, but there isn't much we can do about it.”
The Wildcats will be hopeful of entering into the CBL again next season.
“We have worked pretty hard it would be a shame to see that go to waste.”
