Aradale won the toss and sent Pomonal in and were ruthless from the first ball.
Wickets fell quickly for Pomonal and it was Butler who was in control.
Bowling serious pace Butler took eight wickets for just 25 runs from his 20 overs.
The other wickets were spread evenly across Trav Horvatek, Tyler Cronin and Brett Tate.
It was a strong bowling performance by Aradale who gave away just six extras in their 47 overs.
Pomonal were all out for 78.
In reply Aradale’s Tate and Cronin put on 60 runs each in quick time.
Cronin hit one maximum while combined they managed 10 boundaries.
Aradale are three wickets down but currently lead by 71 runs with a day to play.
The game will resume this Saturday at Alexandra Oval in Ararat
