Band member Tammie Meehan said it was a huge honour and privilege to perform on their home turf.
“Everyone from Orange Whip are so excited to play some great tunes alongside such fantastic artists,” she said.
“We jumped at the opportunity to play at the Grampians because it is basically our home turf.”
Orange Whip formed in 2013 when brass musicians Matt Haddow and Tammie Meehan colluded to explore a different kind of musical outlet.
“We have built a home grown soul, funk and blues ensemble by recruiting a swag of like minded players from right here in the Grampians,” Ms Meehan said.
“With time, hard work and ambition the line up settled into today’s Orange Whip and we are proud to display that at the festival in February.”
Musicians from Ararat, Moyston, Great Western and Halls Gap make up the eight member musical group.
“We have combined influences and experiences from a wide musical field, from competition brass bands and musical theatre through to soul, experimental rock and punk,” Ms Meehan said.
“We deliver a modern take on classic Motown and soul favourites mixed with reverse engineered contemporary hits.
“We love music, we love Ararat and we love the Grampians and we cannot wait for this exciting festival.”
