Joiner faced off with Adelaide product Greg Hearne, who is well known for his striking ability. The focus was always on Joiner’s movement and whether he could wear his opponent down.
The two went pound for pound exchanging blows, but there were few that registered with Joiner.
Joiner landed a strong kick to the leg of Hearne in the early stages of the first round, but Hearne kept coming.
In the second round Joiner performed a strong take down and took control in the mount position.
After almost two minutes of grappling, Hearne escaped.
Joiner returned to the position and ended the fight with a TKO victory.
“I am very happy with how the fight turned out,” Joiner said.
“It was always the plan to wear him down and I have been putting a lot of work into my wrestling and grappling. It was nice it all come together.”
It was a dominant display for Joiner, who was always in control.
Joiner enjoyed the fight and was pleased to be back in the cage.
“Sometimes fights are hard to come by,” he said.
“I don’t want to wait so long between fights next year. I am hoping to get a fight in Feb.”
Joiner will now return to Stawell this weekend and rest before getting back into training.
Joiner was feeling good, with few sore spots and no cuts or bruises.
