The super athletic Berry has been widely tipped as a first round picked after two differently impressive years with the North Ballarat Rebels in the TAC Cup following on from his years playing junior football with the Horsham Saints.
Berry’s 2015 form saw him win All-Australian selection but injury setbacks saw his 2016 season as captain of the side interrupted on multiple occasions.
Berry has said the setbacks have taught him resilience and tested his character.
Despite less impact on the field his growth in 2016 has seen him described by many AFL pundits as the ‘best kid in the draft’.
He has come a long way from the young boy the Mail-Times first met due to this success in athletics.
Over the years his success in athletics, cross-country, footy and basketball have seen him grow up in front of our photographers lenses.
The Mail-Times wishes Berry all the luck he has worked hard to deserve at the draft tonight and throughout what will hopefully be a long and successful AFL career.
