Horsham Racing Club manager Lisa Inkster said she was expecting another great cup day.
“The weather looks like it will be on our side for once,” she said.
“It has been a little bit touch and go around the state recently so we were bit worried about that for some time.
“All our packages sold out weeks before race day, which is always great.”
The $50,000, 1800-metre Horsham Cup will be run at the later time of 5.40pm for the second year in a row.
“By running it later we can get more people through the gates,” Inkster said.
“It gives people a chance to come down to the race after work.”
The race will host a small but strong field of horses, including last year’s winner Magic Consol.
Magic Consol’s jockey Holly McKechnie said it could be anyone’s race.
“Jimmy has prepared the track beautifully so it should give everyone a chance,” she said.
“Darren Weir is always incredibly hard to beat. He just gets his horses peaking at the right time.
“I wouldn’t put it past Terry and Karina O’Sullivan’s horse (Patch Adams) either.
“I think it’s an underrated horse that I think will go all right.”
A further seven races, with a minimum of $20,000 purses, will run, with a total of 87 runners.
The Horsham Cup is the seventh race on the card.
Another highlight of the day will be fashions on the field.
“Fashions on the field is obviously a massive highlight that Priceline Pharmacy is sponsoring this year,” Inkster said.
Registrations for fashion on the field open at 2.30pm, with the finals before the main race.
The racing club is encouraging people to stay on after racing is finished by providing further entertainment.
“We’ve got entertainment and live music starting from 5pm so people can still come down and still make an evening of it,” Inkster said.
“There will be wood-fired pizzas available and it will be happy hour from 6pm to 8pm.”
Gates open at the Horsham Racing Club at noon.
