Ararat Hospital’s Pyrenees Cafe was packed with board members, staff, auxiliary members and friends who gathered to wish Mrs Andrew well in her retirement.
The health service’s chief executive Nick Bush said he wanted to thank her for her passion and commitment to over a period of 19 and a half years.
Mr Bush said said Mrs Andrew has seen change continually during her time near 20-year long run.
“When she began, clunky typewriters were cutting edge technology, and she has seen three CEO changes along the way,” he said.
“Glenys has a very strong work ethic and strives for a very high standard in everything she does.
“As well as in a gentle but firm way she has an expectation that fellow staff perform at the highest level they can so that East Grampians Health Service can be a high performing health service.”
Mr Andrew said she was grateful and genuinely honoured to have worked at East Grampians Health Service for almost 20 years.
“I’ve always been very thankful to have been given the opportunity to work in this incredible, forward thinking and highly respected health service,” she said.
“One that I have loved and have been so privileged to be associated with.
“I am so lucky to have worked with some exceptional, dedicated, energetic and talented people.”
Mrs Andrew said she wanted to pay tribute to a large number of people she had worked with over the years.
This included the three chief executives she has worked with, health service board members and Building for the Future Foundation trustees.
She also said she wanted to thank the health service auxiliary volunteers and Victorian Police Blue Ribbon Foundation Ararat branch members for their dedication and commitment to improving the organisation.
“How lucky I am to have worked in an organisation with such great people,” she said.
“That makes saying goodbye so hard,” she said.
