THE Horsham Hornets had a challenging start to its trip to Geelong when the side took on the Corio Bay Stingrays at the Geelong Basketball Netball Centre on Saturday.

The Hornets struggled to shine in the first quarter as the Stingrays surged ahead, with a number of quick opening points.
While the Stingrays went from strength to strength, the Hornets found the time to shine as a tight battle erupted and opening play developed.
It was neck and neck at quarter time as the Hornets led 15-14.
The Hornets ran on in the second half but it wasn’t enough as the Stingrays found its balance and stole the lead.
It was the third and fourth quarter which saw the Hornets claim the victory, as all players settled into their roles.
The final score saw just two points define the Hornets hard fought victory, 96-94.
Tim Pickert was the Hornets top scorer of the game with 22 healthy points.
Brett Goodgame was a welcome return for the Hornets with 21 points of his own.
Cam Bruce was close behind, delivering 20 points.
The Hornets were due to play its second round three game at 2pm on Sunday.
WOMENS
Horsham’s Lady Hornets remain undefeated after a solid victory against the Corio Bay Stingrays on Saturday.
The whole team stuck together against the challenging side for the impressive 80-57 win.
All of the Lady Hornets were consistent but the sides shining star was undoubtedly Georgia Hiscock.
Hiscock contributed the first points of the game and accumulated a total of 21 points.
Sophie Alexander has another strong performance with 13 points. Alexandra Brack was a key contributor with 11 points. The Lady Hornets were due to play its second round three game at 12pm on Sunday.
