More than 40 classic muscle cars will make a seven-day journey through parts of South Australia and Victoria. The run will start in Adelaide on November 5 and pass through Halls Gap, Phillip Island and Bendigo before finishing finishing in Renmark on November 11.
Australian actor Shane Jacobson will join the run spending three days with the crew on its journey through the two states.
Aussie Muscle Car Run event manager Rachel Carson said those registering would have the opportunity to spend a day driving the full Phillip Island track and will be a once in a lifetime experience.
“This event is a nostalgic car run that allows participants to race their cars on tracks that these iconic beasts were designed and built for,” Ms Carson said.
“It’s a coming together of like-minded, passionate and proud car enthusiasts and a showing of kindness, generosity and camaraderie to reach a common goal which is to raise vital money for the work of the Leukemia Foundation of Australia.”
The car run will pass through Casterton, Coleraine and Cavendish before camping out for the night in Halls Gap on November 7.
Halls Gap Gariwerd Motel manager Angeline Martin said the event is a fantastic opportunity to bring more people into the town.
“There are heaps of events happening at this time of year in Halls Gap,” Ms Martin said.
“There is always something to do and always opportunities for more people to visit Halls Gap which is becoming known as a town that is a hub of activity.
“The town primarily benefits from tourism and accommodation so anything that brings more people into the town is always good and exciting.”
The Aussie Muscle Car Run was launched in South Australia five years ago and has since raised more than $1.7 million for the Leukaemia Foundation.
The 2016 crew is expecting to travel 1989 kilometres for the journey.
