A significant 416 students took to the field, representing their schools, competing and learning about shooting and gun safety at the largest school shoot of its kind in Australia.
Students started shooting at 9am and finished at 3pm, shooting two rounds of 12 targets with a single barrel.
Committee member Bruce Crafter said it was a successful day for all involved.
“The weather was kind to us, much better than Sunday,” he said.
“We had the local police there supporting the event.
“The students were extremely well behaved, it was a great day.”
Donald High School’s Lauren Pearce topped the girls high gun with a score of 24.
Ballarat High School’s Ben Kinnersly was the overall high gun winner with a score of 20 while Casterton Secondary College’s Willis Jenkin topped the boys high gun, also with a score of 20.
Kaniva College’s Nicholas Wallis finished second in the senior boys non member division with a score of 17.
Horsham College’s Liam Klowss finished second with a score of 18 in the junior boys member division.
Kaniva College’s Darcy Holland topped the junior non-member boys division on 16.
In the senior girls, St Arnaud Secondary College’s Maddison Decker secured second on 14 points as former Wimmera student now Ballarat Grammer student Ella Bibby finished in third on 13.
Kaniva College’s Zoe Hawker was a standout in the junior girls, placing second with a score of 12.
