The final score saw the Saints winning 29-26 against the Bombers who were in the contest right up until the end of the match.
Saints coach Emma Bannister said the way her side made her proud.
“They worked hard during the season and it was good to get the win,” she said.
“They did everything I asked during they year and especially our juniors.
“It’s very very exciting.”
It was a see-sawing game that could have gone either way.
The Bombers had the better off the first quarter and led 9-7 at the first change.
The side continued to lead through the second quarter as the game continued to go one way and then the other.
It was 16-14 at half-time.
The third-quarter so things swing in favour of the Saints as they mounted a charge towards the premiership.
By the time the teams were gathering together at the last break the Saints had a narrow one-goal lead.
It didn’t take long for the Bombers to draw level when play re-started and the side soon grabbed the lead.
Troubles with the electronic scoreboard meant that it did not change for the rest of the game but the Saints were not concerned.
“We were’t stressing about the score,” Bannister said.
“We were just focusing on how we were playing.
“I think the scoreboard stopped working early enough that we had a good idea that we were in front.”
The Saints rallied well to win but when the final whistle was blown no one on court was quite sure who should be celebrating.
“I knew it was going to be a tight game throughout,” Bannister said.
“We needed our defenders to stand stand up and they did just that today so it was really good.”
Sarah Domaschenz, Edenhope-Apsley, won the best on court medal.
