Stakeholder group chairman Cr David Grimble said the extension would give the public more time to understand the Horsham Integrated Transport Strategy.
Horsham council will also hold a third public information session on September 6 at Horsham Civic Centre, from 5.30 to 7.00 pm.
The council has invited people who have already made a submission on the draft plan to make extra submissions.
“People will also be able to ask questions about the strategy’s proposals at the meeting and are then invited to provide their further submissions, in writing to council,” Cr Grimble said.
“During the sixth meeting of the stakeholder group for the integrated transport strategy on August 26, the consultants presented an overview of the 295 submissions that had been received up to that point.
“It’s pleasing that we have already received a large number of submissions on the draft strategy from all areas of Horsham, with strong support for and against various bypass options being indicated.”
Cr Grimble said the draft transport plan was about more than just the bypass and the council would give due consideration to submissions.
“Theere are options for improvements at key intersections, improved connections between the regional highways and bridge crossings within Horsham being proposed,” he said.
“Key issues that have come up in the submissions to date have included concerns about road options close to the highly culturally sensitive lunette near Pearsons Road, south of the Wimmera River, and the proposals for truck traffic near residential areas in Golf Course Road and Curran Road.
“This includes concerns that this truck route would eventually become a bypass, although this is not the intention of the draft strategy.”
The draft transport plan can be downloaded from Horsham council’s website and print copies can be requested from council’s offices.
Residents can send an email to council@hrcc.vic.gov.au, or provide a written response by mail or dropping it into council’s offices at 18 Roberts Avenue, Horsham.
