Wimmera president Barry McClure said he encouraged members of the public to buy Legacy items whenever possible.
“All the money raised in the Wimmera stays in the area,” he said.
“Currently there are 248 widows and small amount of dependents of deceased service personnel within our areas, but this number changes for various reasons.”
Legacy is committed to keeping promises made to diggers 100 years ago that their families would be taken care of.
The organisation was founded in 1923 and relies on donations to carry out its work.
Mr McClure said he was encouraged by the work that Legacy and the dedicated group of volunteer legatees do to assist and support families of service personnel.
“We shall be at Bunnings on the weekend both Saturday and Sunday and throughout the week there will be street walks in outer areas,” Mr McClure said.
“There will be tables with badges, pens and teddies in the main shopping areas.”
Mr McClure said Wimmera Legacy would also gladly accept donations, which can be organised by phoning 5382 1543 or by emailing admin@wimmeralegacy.com.au.
