Red Cross Horsham publicity officer Rhonda Hender said on woman’s generosity would now benefit people in need.
Red Cross members have built on the mystery knitter’s efforts.
“The members of Horsham Red Cross are grateful to the lady who took a large quantity of knitted squares to the Red Cross in early July,” she said.
“Red cross members have crocheted around the squares and sewn them together to make three lovely warm single bed size rugs.
“They will be taken to the Christian Emergency food Centre to give to those in need.”
The woman who donated the squares did not leave a full name and the Red Cross is unsure of her first name.
Ms Hender said she came in to the Red Cross Op Shop and asked if the organisation could make use of the squares.
The Red Cross approached the Mail-Times in the hope that the woman might see the story and receive the thank you message.
Ms Hender said Horsham Red Cross members would hold a garage sale on the first weekend in September at 34 Gardenia Street.
“There will be a large variety of goods for sale,” she said.
The Red Cross will also hold a three course dinner with guest speaker in October at the Horsham Uniting Church.
The dinner will raise money for the Red Cross.
