In the end the Ewes prevailed 51-49 against a brave Saints side that never stopped trying.
Natimuk United coach Cheryl Sudholz said it was a fast-paced, strategic game.
“It was a very see-saw, up and down kind of game,” she said.
“No one was able to get the upper hand as the score showed.
“Both teams had potential to win but the defensive pressure from both sides was that tight.
“We both really wanted it so it was down to the wire.”
Natimuk led at the first break but trailed by four at half-time.
The Ewes came storming back into it in the third quarter and restricted the Saints to just six scoring shots in the final term to level the scores at 38-all at the end of regular proceedings.
Both teams had chances to win it in extra time, but it was the Ewes that eventually prevailed.
Sudholz said she was proud of her team.
“We did not panic and we kept our heads up, always encouraging each other,” she said.
“The defenders were exceptional and Shannon Couch got the goals when we needed it the most.
“She really held her ground and did an exceptional job against Laura McDonald.”
Sudholz said the umpiring was consistent. Michelle Trigg was awarded best on court for the Ewes and Teagan Lang was the best for Saints.
