It was end to end stuff from both teams throughout, with a mistake gifting the Ewes the opportunity for the win only after the match had moved into the second period of extra team.
In the end the Ewes prevailed 51-49 against a brave Saints side that never stopped trying.
Natimuk led at the first break but trailed by four at half-time.
The Ewes came storming back into it in the third quarter and restricted the Saints to just six scoring shots in the final term to level the scores at 38-all at the end of regular proceedings.
Both teams had chances to win it in extra time, but it was the Ewes that eventually prevailed.
