The competition has run annually since 1997.
It encourages people of all abilities to try their hand at writing a story.
Wimmera Regional Library information services officer Elinor Hateley said there would be no theme for this year’s competition.
“This will keep it interesting and gives people the chance to chose their own topic,” she said.
The competition caters for all ages from primary school to the senior community.
The divisions are open, teenage and primary school.
To enter a piece, people are required to fill out an entry form available from all library branches across the Wimmera, including the mobile library.
People can either go to their nearest library and enter or post a piece to the Wimmera Regional Library.
The form is also available from the library’s webpage www.wrlc.org.au
Entries close on September 9.
