The game saw the Burras run out comfortable 20.6 (126) to 5.9 (39) winners.
The contest was killed off early in the game by the Burras as the team led at the first break 7.3 (45) to 1.0 (6).
Burras’ assistant coach Damian Cameron said it was a good result for his side.
“We didn’t play the best game in round 14 against Warrack and we knew the Rats were playing for a spot in the finals,” he said.
“All of our blokes played with a great intensity and attack on the football.
“It was good to see us play four quarters of football.”
He said that the midfield group had played really well in tough conditions.
“Jae Mcgrath was good obviously to kick eight goals,” Cameron said.
“His hands are really on at the moment. You know he’s going to kick bags if we give him the opportunities.”
Rats’ coach David Hosking said it was disappointing to lose but it wasn’t entirely unexpected.
“The boys put in a pretty good effort but the Burras were too good, too big, and too strong,” he said.
“They got off to a good start and killed the contest early on.
“That’s what good sides look to do.”
Despite falling behind early Hosking said his side continued to put in throughout the day.
In the last quarter the Rats managed to double the team’s score.
The loss snuffs out any slim chance Ararat still had of making finals.
“The boys were clearly pretty disappointed afterwards,” Hosking said.
“Looking back out our season though I don’t think we deserved to be in finals.”
He was optimistic about the future despite considering this season to have been a step back for the club.
“The last few years we’ve been trying to do what Minyip-Murtoa have done and build up our club,” he said.
“We lost some key guys over the summer for various reasons.
“The good thing for us is that we’ve got more guys on the list now than any time in the past ten years.”
The rats will have a chance to register win number five for the season against Dimboola in round 16.
The Burras will look to overcome the second placed Horsham Saints in the final round of the season.
Cameron said it would be important for the side to put another solid four-quarters together.
“It’s really down to getting our perfect game of football together,” he said.
“We know that the next game after that will be for a spot in the grand final.”
