Having played just four quarters ago, both teams will be keen to come out firing. The Warriors won the last encounter, but the performance was far from convincing.

On Nhill’s home ground the tables may turn a little bit. Nhill play its own ground well and have the ability to open Stawell up.

Warriors coach Brad Thomas said his team would have to lift in order to shut Nhill’s outside runners down.

“We will need to lift our intensity, work-rate and accountability,” he said.

“If we want to secure third spot we have to get our selves up and about and play our best football. Our issue is above our shoulders, we are just not mentally strong enough yet.”

Warriors players and staff were disappointed they let a winning game go begging last week against the Saints. Warriors will be looking to make amends this weekend.

Warriors will make two changes to its line up with Jesse Eckel and potentially Tom O’Niell both up for senior selection.

Ash DeClifford and Koby Stewart will return to the reserves. Thomas believed the senior team has played both players out of form by not using them correctly.

If Warriors are to win it will give themselves the best possible chance to secure third spot when they meet Horsham Demons is the final home and away round.

“We truly believe we can mix it with any side in the competition if we can take third spot,” Thomas said.

“As a team we are learning a lot from our losses. Our best football is still ahead of us.”

Stawell will travel to Nhill on Saturday for the first bounce at 2.20pm.
