The award will also be contested by the Ballarat Turf Club, Dunkeld Racing Club, Kyneton and Hanging Rock Racing Club and the Pakenham Racing Club.
The five contenders will be judged on attendance, community involvement, profitability and delivering an overall top quality race day experience.
Donald & District Racing Club manager Penny Penfold said the club was excited to be nominated.
“We are up against some pretty big clubs so to be nominated among them is a massive bonus for club,” she said.
“I think the Donald & District Racing Club in particular is very community-minded and volunteer-driven.
“They try to engage with the community and the town, so it’s a massive reward for them to be acknowledged for their hard work.
“The club’s capability as an all-weather racetrack and its ability to race throughout the season, to take transfers when required, is a definite plus for the club.
“The committee in general have a very positive, can-do attitude. If it can be done, they’ll do it.”
The awards will be held at the Mercure Ballarat Hotel and Convention Centre on Saturday, August 20.
