Coach Scott Carey said windy conditions made for a difficult match against Natimuk United in round 13.
Despite the scoreline reflecting a slow start, Swifts played a strong first quarter with strong ball movement kicking against a heavy wind.
Swifts battled to gain ascendancy early and took control in the second half of the match.
While the Rams players did their best to control the ball, Swifts roared home in the final quarter to win 15.15 (105) to 10.7 (67).
Jake Goodes came off in the third quarter after copping a knee to the back and will be assessed at training for Saturday’s game.
“The boys put the effort in and got the rewards. We were really pleased to get the four points,” Carey said.
Swifts were desperate to win against Natimuk United after dropping what was a winnable game in round one of this season.
Carey was pleased with how they all played.
Swifts came off the bye round with fresh bodies and were confident they could get the job down.
They were wanting to win at least two of their final four games.
The first part of the job has been complete with a 38 point win.
Nicholas Pickering was robust across halfback, repelling a lot of the football and limiting any damage from the strong winds.
Jakeb Brown played his best game of the season alongside Sean Mantell who was again named in the best.
Damon Folkes didnt make it into the best six, but he played his role.
He gave Swifts a target up forward and was able to kick truly on five occasions.
Last time Swifts met Folkes played in the backline.
Swifts will fancy their chances this weekend when they meet Noradjuha Quantong.
Swifts have been able to get a consistent group together and they are starting to play their best football.
Swifts cannot make the finals this year, but would like to finish their season on a good note.
