The lake now sits at three per cent – the highest it has been since February last year.
Group president Ray Howard said while the lake was still not looking good, water was starting to flow in.
It comes after the Wimmera River started naturally flowing again after four years, because of wet weather.
”Hopefully we get some good spring rains as well and the lake keeps getting better,” Mr Howard said.
“Once we get some water, we will fight to keep it in there
“Last year, we had problems because we never had run-offs, so the lake never got water into it.
“But this year, with the water we have so far, we are getting run-offs.
“If the Wimmera River can put some water into Pine Lake, we would really appreciate it.”
Mr Howard said the group would just have to wait and see if the lake survives winter.
“Hopefully it keeps raining and we get some more water,” he said.
“But we have to wait and see what the environmental flows will be.
“All we can do now is cross our fingers and maybe do a rain dance.”
Mr Howard said it had been good to see a wet winter.
“This winter seems to have gone back to what the old winters were like,” he said.
“Hopefully it’s a return to the old days.”
Joel Joel farmer Phil Hall said he had 170 millimetres of rain since the start of May.
He said he couldn’t drive on his paddock at the moment because they were too wet.
“Crops are looking average, but they are full of potential,” he said.
