Owner Steven Zhu said the old building had a lot of history but it was falling apart and had to be replaced.
“There were cracks in the walls and the floor was collapsing,” he said.
“It was dangerous.”
The only part of the old milk bar remaining on Wednesday afternoon was a pile of corrugated tin roofing and parts of the rear section.
Mr Zhu said he expected to be at the temporary site for five months while the new milk bar was built.
“I would like to thank my lovely neighbours,” he said.
“They have been very understanding and they helped me move all the equipment.
“We were able to have a temporary milk bar set up in just one night.”
Mr Zhu moved to Horsham two years ago after running a milk bar in Rainbow.
He could not say if the new milk bar will look anything like the previous building.
“I have left that up to the builders,” he said.
“I just ask them to come up with the plans as long as it’s a reasonable price.”
