FORMER Horsham Demons player Sebastian Ross was a standout for St Kilda in his 50th AFL match as the Saints downed ladder leaders Geelong by three points at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Young on-baller Ross was instrumental in the Saints’ three-point victory, stepping up against Geelong gun Patrick Dangerfield.
Ross managed 33 disposals against the Brownlow medal favorite, matching Dangerfield through the middle of the ground.
Dangerfield was still one of the Cats’ best, with 29 disposals and nine clearances, but Ross held his own and sealed victory for his side.
Saints coach Alan Richardson said Ross’ role was crucial to the win.
“We acknowledge Geelong is a really good footy team and some of the blokes that they’re going to play on are really good players, but this is the way we want to play,” Richardson said.
“Ross versus Dangerfield is a good example of that.
“Seb is building his career. He’s a guy that works exceptionally hard at his footy so he’s starting to get rewarded.
“That was symbolic of the way we wanted to approach the game. The ultimate result has the potential to give us more belief.”
The 23-year-old has reached the 50 games milestone at the most successful point of his career. Ross has been the most improved player at St Kilda, averaging 26.6 possessions, 4.7 inside 50s and 4.4 clearances.
