Saints will host Horsham Demons at Coughlin Park. It is the Saints’ first home ground fixture of the 2016 season. 

Both Saints and Demons have been playing great football in 2016. The 2016 Wimmera Football League looks like being one of the tightest for several years. 

The last time the two sides met, Demons triumphed in a 12-point win. 

Horsham Saints coach Shayne Breuer said his side was looking forward to the challenge. 

“They won’t be happy with last week’s loss. That might make them want to win more,” he said. 

“They will miss Nick (Pekin) as a leader on the field but they have guys that are just as effective.

“We are prepared for a good game. We have played them 12 times in two and a half years so we both know how the other team plays.” 

Breuer said that every game was important. 

“They are very good at running with the ball,” he said. 

“We have to worry about ourselves and how we play. Hopefully by the end of the season we finish nearer to the top than the bottom.” 

Tom Pain is a possible in having missed last week’s clash with a fractured jaw and broken nose. 

“Our consistency has been patchy in the last couple of rounds. I hope that will change against the Demons on Sunday,” Breuer said. 

Demons co-coach Brad Hartigan said his side had a poor game last week. 

“We always have great battles against the Saints,” he said. 

“We have to be on our game.

“At training we are working on in close work and polishing it up so it is quick and clean.” 

Hartigan said he hoped the performance against the Warriors was a one-off. 

“I am hoping we don’t lose too many in a row, especially this weekend,” he said. 

“We will miss Nick as a leader on the oval and he will be difficult to replace.

“He does get a different perspective of the game in the coaching box though.”
