Navarre won by 156 points after Maldon were goalless after the first quarter.
Midway through the second term Maldon broke the shackles and slotted two majors.
Joint coach Ash Driscoll said despite the big margin their were errors in their game.
“The big word for us is improvement,” Driscoll said.
“We want to improve and we think there is plenty of room for that. This week we were inaccurate so that will be a focus.”
Driscoll kicked five to find himself in the best players while younger brother Cody chipped in with five of his own.
Aaron Slorach enjoyed his freedom in the forward line kicking four goals.
On debut Aiden Jensz also hit the scoreboard with two majors.
Danny Grellet was best on ground followed by Brent Flood, Louis Hannett, Driscoll, Sam Kaye and Slorach.
Nick Pitts also made his senior debut after playing his juniors at Navarre.
Driscoll said the indigenous celebration made for a good day for their club but had little impact on the way they played.
“From our backs to our mids and forward line we played solid free flowing football,” Driscoll said.
“That is pleasing as a coach.”
