More than 50 players took to the course in the second round, with the competition proving fierce.
Although conditions were more difficult than in the first round, competitors posted some excellent scores.
All of the first round scratch winners managed to hold onto their good form in the second round and maintained their leads in their respective grades.
A Grade competition was particularly close, with McRae leading by a mere four strokes from Julie Wirth.
After getting the nod by countback last week, McRae was the only player to record 82 off the stick for the second round.
McRae sits comfortably with a score of 167 from her two rounds.
Julie Neumann and June Crabtree are a further five shots off the pace and currently sit in third and fourth spot respectively in the overall championship.
In B Grade competition, Kerri Chamberlain took a 10-stroke lead over her nearest opponent Judie Delahunty.
Chamberlain improved her round by three shots to finish with a score of 95 for the second round.
Chamberlain is 12 strokes clear of Barb Farr and Annette Fechner, who round out the top four for the B grade section.
Chamberlain has a score of 193 from two rounds.
Joy Tonkin sits well clear in the C Grade division, and will go into round three ahead by eight shots.
Tonkin leads from Jill Gawith and Joy Pretlove, who is 11 shots behind.
Delahunty made sure of her success as she claimed the nearest the pin on the second hole.
Judy Krahe was the nearest on the fourth hole, while Annabelle Plowright claimed the nearest the pin on the 11th hole and June Gross took the honours on the 15th hole.
As far as handicap results go, there were none better than Julie Neumann in the A Grade.
Neumann recorded a nett 71 to win the division from Trish Mills.
Mills was two shots behind once the scores were adjusted.
In the B Grade it was Donna O’Connor who saluted.
O’Connor matched the score of A Grade winner Neumann with a 71 nett.
Chamberlain continued to impress with her name featuring once again.
Chamberlain was the runner-up in the B Grade handicap standings with a score of nett 75.
Pat Brooksby took control of the C Grade section, recording a strong win.
Brooksby was too good for her fellow competitors, and finished the round with a nett 80 .
Joy Pretlove was the runner-up after surviving a count-back.
Pretlove finished with a nett 82.
Golfers will hit the course for round three this week.
