Shanaka Fernando, creator of restaurant Lentil as Anything, visited the college on Monday.
Lentil as Anything is a non-profit vegetarian restaurant, where visitors pay what they want.
College teacher Kate Alliott said Mr Fernando spoke to the business management class and the VCAL literacy class.
“He talk about his life and how he grew up in Sri Lanka and about his idea of setting up Lentil as Anything,” she said.
“He is a real renegade and talked about times in his life when he lived in a tent with no money, or about the time he lived in a Buddhist monastery, but got kicked out because he had an affair with a nun. How he created his business was inspiring.”
Ms Alliott said the students enjoyed the talk.
