Horsham’s Paige Thompson, 9, and her mum Maree organised a morning tea at Horsham Amcal on Monday.
Paige was diagnosed with the chronic illness at birth.
Mrs Thompson said people were able to buy sweet treats for a gold coin donation at the fundraiser.
“Monday was fantastic. We were overwhelmed with the response from people,” she said.
“They were very obliging and more than happy to hand over donations.
“They also asked questions about Paige and how she’s going.”
Paige has set up a banner at the business with information about cystic fibrosis and managing the illness.
The Thompson family makes regular trips to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne for check-ups, and Paige also has daily physiotherapy.
Mrs Thompson said the family did not have a specific fundraising goal, and would be happy with any amount raised.
“We’ll continue running the fundraiser until the end of the month,” she said.
“So far we have raised $1186.45, which is a fantastic effort.”
Mrs Thompson said there was a box of merchandise at Horsham Amcal including pens, badges, balls and headphones that people could buy.
She said Paige was going well, and the family would travel to Melbourne on Thursday for a check-up.
Horsham Amcal will also host a fundraiser for the Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea on Thursday.
