Stawell anglers made the most of the near perfect angling conditions and an increase in fish.
There were 34 redfin and two rainbow trout caught in the Sertori and Co sponsored run.
Darren Smith had an outing to remember as he hauled in 11 fish.
Smith’s bag included 10 redfin and one rainbow trout.
Smith caught a total weight of 6.645 kilograms.
It was Smith who took top honours from Doug Collins who was the runner up.
Collins had a good day, but was unable to match the high numbers of Smith.
Collins caught six redfin at 2.808 kilograms.
The Wilson family shared in the success with both David and Janet among the results.
David landed five fish weighing 2.542 kilograms to take out third spot in the men’s open section.
David’s wife Janet won the ladies section with a redfin weighing 0.282 kilograms.
Smith took out the heaviest fish award with a nice plump redfin that weighed a total of 1.757 kilograms (3lb 14oz).
The Stawell Angling Club is in good shape with 16 competitors across the divisions.
The next club competition will be an open water event sponsored by United Drilling Services.
The United Drilling Services run will begin this weekend from 7.00am tomorrow until noon Sunday.
The weigh in will take place at Doug Collins at 2.00pm Sunday.
