The program is aimed at people who are new to technology, whether it be an iPad, smartphone or computers.
Students are providing one-on-one sessions, tailored to the needs of the person.
This could include learning to email, attach photos or how Facebook works.
“Feedback from the sessions already taken place have been extremely positive,” Stawell Library’s Kerry Wilson said.
“It is a great opportunity to learn exactly what you want, without getting inundated with information that is not needed or required.”
There are currently three students who are available for tutoring.
Stawell Library will celebrate Library and Information Week from May 23 to 29.
The week aims to raise the profile of libraries, showcasing the many and varied resources and services that libraries provide to the community.
The event has been organised by the Australian Library and Information Association to promote the value of reading and literacy, the importance of Australia’s book industry and the role of libraries.
This year’s theme is Discover More.
“Discover more at your library. We are more than just books,” Ms Wilson said.
The library will host Simultaneous Story time as well as a Biggest Morning Tea.
National Simultaneous Storytime is an annual campaign that aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books.
Now in its 16th successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children’s book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas.
National Simultaneous Storytime starts at 11am on Wednesday, May 25 with libraries reading the story I Got This Hat written by Jol and Kate Temple and illustrated by Jon Foye.
The morning tea will start at 10.30am on Thursday, May 26.
Library staff will be at Shop 108 on the main street from 1pm to 4pm on May 26 and 27.
“Staff will be available to answer your questions about the services the library provides. Your library is so much more than just books,” Ms Wilson said.
“Any questions on electronic devices is also welcome. Bring your phone or tablet along.”
