Guest speaker Deane Johnston, the proprietor of Johnston’s orchid nursery in Adelaide and club patron, spoke on growing mixed genera orchids, including those that don’t require excessive heating during the winter months.
Deane has been a generous patron of the club for many years and is an acclaimed speaker on all things relating to orchids.
The who, what, when, where and why segment was chaired by club secretary Anne Gardiner.
Anne explained her methods for growing and flowering paphiopedilum orchids. Anne has had great success with this genera, winning many awards for her orchids.
The club will hosting a walk around on Sunday, May 22. The day will commence at 11.30am with lunch in the club rooms followed by the walk around, where members and visitors will travel to members’ homes to observe orchid growing conditions before returning to the club rooms at Laidlaw Park for afternoon tea. All are invited to attend.
