With Taylors Lake heavy underdogs against league juggernauts Jeparit-Rainbow, the winner of the Tigers and the Saints will likely take their spot in the upper half of the Horsham District Football Netball League, provided the Lakers don’t pull off an unlikely upset.
Pimpinio is coming off a dramatic come from behind win against Noradjuha-Quantong in round four.
The Tigers managed to fight back from a 31-point deficit at the final break to win by 17 points, recording their second consecutive win in the process.
Tigers coach Matthew Everett said his side needs to focus on a consistent four quarter effort if they are to notch a third consecutive league win.
“Our concentration this week is more on consistency than anything,” he said.
“We haven’t been consistent enough in our play this year, we haven’t really strung together four quarters of football yet.
“We always strive to look at our most recent game and improve on where we went wrong.
“For us, we definitely need to improve on the way we start games.
“If we can get six or seven goals in the fourth quarter, we can do it in the first, and instead put the pressure on the other team to fight back.”
Edenhope-Apsley, who are sitting below Pimipinio on percentage, are high on confidence after an emphatic 82-point victory over Rupanyup last week.
Star man Addison Milner is in fine form, having scored 11 goals this season and providing plenty of run for the Saints.
Saints coach Michael Rowe said he expects a difficult game against a quality Tigers outfit.
“We certainly expect them to be competitive,” he said.
“They’ve got some great players in Pat Knott and Dan Baker, who are as good as anyone going around.”
The Saints will welcome back Matt Cranage from injury this week, in what is a vital boost to their midfield and forward line.
The Tigers will be rebuffed by the return of midfielder Darcy O’Connor, who has recovered from a strained quad injury.
Defender Steve Thomas will also rejoin the playing group after he spent last week as a spectator due to a concussion he received two weeks ago against Rupanyup.
Tim Winfield is a 50-50 chance to play for the Tigers on account of a shin injury, while Kieran Hinch has been given the all-clear after suffering a concussion against the Bombers last week.
