Paul Licuria has been training with the Burras, passing down wisdom from his decade with Sydney and Collingwood.
Burras coach Jaye Macumber said he originally hoped to have Licuria play, but he was unavailable.
“He’ll train with us this week, but unfortunately can’t play,” he said.
“We’re hoping he’ll put his hands up for a few games this season.”
Licuria is best remembered for his eight-year stint with Collingwood between 1999 and 2007.
During that time, he won two club best-and-fairest awards, and made a grand final appearance in the 2002 loss to Brisbane Lions.
Licuria is not the only star to have taken up a training role with the Burras this season.
Former Geelong ruckman Darren Flanigan was enlisted by the Burras in pre-season to help fine-tune their ruck stocks ahead of the season.
