The program aims to support the development of innovative and sustainable transport options for people living in areas where transport choices are lacking.
Cr Karen Hyslop said Northern Grampians Shire Council had been sponsored for its Wheelie Good Routes initiative.
“The program will map safe and accessible routes of travel around Stawell and St Arnaud for residents and visitors who use mobility aids such as wheelchairs and walkers to get around,” Cr Hyslop said.
“This provides a great opportunity for council and its residents to work together to improve safety and increase mobility in the area.

“We’re really looking forward to getting started on the project and thank the RACV for its support.”
RACV has stepped up its push to improve transport options for regional Victorians following the launch of its Mobility Beyond Driving Sponsorship Program in late 2015.
The program comes on the back of its Regional Growing Pains report which identified critical transport deficiencies in rural areas and outer Melbourne where there are few mobility choices other than the motor vehicle.
Thanuja Gunatillake, manager of public transport and mobility at RACV, said that Northern Grampians Shire Council's Wheelie Good Routes program was something that would have broad application for areas experiencing transport disadvantage.
“With the involvement of a broad range of areas across council and the community, RACV is excited to see the Wheelie Good Routes program take shape,” Ms Gunatillake said.
