The State Revenue Office has $1.2 million waiting to be claimed in the Wimmera.
The amounts unclaimed for individuals and businesses range from $20 to more than $9000.
Horsham Rural City has the highest number of unclaimed entitlements in the Wimmera with 4804.
The entitlements total $312,640.90, which includes about $9600 for a Horsham business.
About $300,000 is unclaimed in Ararat Rural City, which includes more than $5000 owed to an Ararat woman.
Member for Western Victoria Jaala Pulford said the State Revenue Office held records of money that remained unclaimed after a year.
This includes share dividends, salaries and wages, rents and bonds, debentures and interest, and proceeds from sales.
“I encourage all Wimmera residents, businesses and community groups to visit the State Revenue Office online database and search for any amount recorded under their name,” Ms Pulford said.
“You just need to type your name and if we’re holding unclaimed money for you, you’ll know within seconds.
“If you find an unexpected windfall, just follow the prompts to start the recovery process.”
