Project Platypus events coordinator Bronwyn Bant said the workshop was being delivered due to farmer demand.
“The workshop will cover a range of critical issues that will help farmers manage their livestock, pastures and water supplies,” Ms Bant said.
“Importantly, we’re also throwing a spotlight on farmer health. We want to reduce the stigma associated with mental health, and with farmers facing a challenging season.”
Ms Bant said Project Platypus also wanted to ensure farmers affected by the current conditions are offered the support they deserve.
“We also want farmers to know where they can access help, and what the warning signs are for friends who may be experiencing hardship,” she said.
The workshop will be held at the Navarre Football Club on Monday, February 29, starting with breakfast at 7.30am. Clem Sturmfels from ECODEV will discuss water management around the farm and stock containment areas, while Rob Herrmann (Grampians Pyrenees Primary Care Partnership) will discuss farmer resilience.
A third speaker, Erica Schelforst from ECODEV, will talk about autumn break feeding and stock management. Registrations to attend are essential, and can be made by calling Project Platypus on 5358 4410 by February 26.
