Good weather is predicted and riders have booked ahead from across Victoria and South Australia.
It is expected last year’s record of more than 350 riders and pillions could be broken.
The event is hosted by the Ararat branch of the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation and organised by a sub-committee of enthusiastic motorcyclists that work closely with Victoria Police from the Northern Grampians Region.
The 2016 ride is a green-corridor event and starts from Ararat at 9am.
Riders will travel through the countryside to the fringes of the Grampians National Park including the townships of Moyston, Pomonal and Halls Gap for morning tea.
The ride then moves through the national park to Yarram Gap Road and on to Willaura, then back via Moyston to Ararat for a barbecue in the Alexandra Gardens.
“The Grampians Ride to Remember has certainly grown to a major event and is now attracting motorcycle enthusiasts from far and wide,” sub-committee chairman Phil Clark said.
“We have a dedicated committee, including many acting as volunteer marshalls and importantly we are working closely with Victoria Police, especially our Northern Grampians region representatives, to create an enjoyable and safe ride that will again take in the Grampians National Park.
“Importantly the ride will support the Ararat branch of the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation and honour the memory of Victoria Police killed in the line of duty.”
All proceeds from the 2016 ride will go towards the Ararat branch’s current project to raise $150,000 for the Jason Bond Perioperative Unit at East Grampians Health Service which includes the redesign and refurbishment of the theatre recovery and day procedure areas to improve workflow for the increasing number of day stay patients.
The ride will leave from the Ararat Performing Arts Centre in the morning and return to the Alexandra Gardens at approximately 12.45pm.
