Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford, visited Ararat on Thursday where she made the announcement.
“I’m pleased to announce that a new round of funding for the Sporting Club Grants Program is open,” Ms Pulford said.
Ms Pulford said the Victorian Government’s $4.6 million Sporting Club Grants Program is giving clubs the tools and resources they need to be the best they can be.
“We know some of the challenges that clubs and volunteers face, that’s why we’re going in to bat for grassroots clubs across the state,” she said.
Clubs will be able to apply for grants of up to $1000 for the most modern equipment or uniforms. They can also receive grants of up to $5000 for programs or initiatives that help members develop, or strengthen club operations.
Ms Pulford outlined the benefit of grassroots clubs, such as those around the Wimmera district, and the work they do.
“Our grassroots clubs in Victoria are great. They work really hard to provide a wonderful environment for families to connect, kids to make friends and aspiring athletes to become stars,” she said.
“All over the state, every day of the week, Victorians are out there giving their all on the sporting field.
“We want to help them take that extra step.”
The Victorian Government is also offering Athlete Pathway Travel Grants for aspiring athletes in regional Victoria.
“We know the challenges of getting to and from training camps and competitions can be tough, particularly for those future stars in regional Victoria,” Ms Pulford said.
“Emerging athletes have enough to worry about without having to face travel cost burdens too. That’s why we’re providing grants to assist athletes achieve their goals.”
State sporting associations are eligible to apply for grants of up to $6000 for teams or $2000 for individual athletes to help with the costs of travel to camps or national events.
Clubs can apply for grants of up to $750 to assist coaches or officials find their way, too.
