We started off the season gelling well as a team and learning each other's games and positions. Unfortunately Micheala Armer, one of our attacking players, went down with a season ending knee injury very early on which meant we had to ask Kearnie Warren and Hayley Reading, two of our up and coming under 15 girls, to step up into the under 17s side.
They both ended up being vital pieces in our team and have improved incredibly.
The girls have put a lot of hard work into their netball this year with all of them attending fitness training on a Tuesday and practice on a Thursday.
They have really developed on and off the court and this has really shown in there netball.
We play a very clean and competitive style of netball and the girls should really hold their heads up high with the season that they have had.
Our attacking end - Lucy Pollock, Emma Dwyer and Kearnie Warren - have worked really hard at training throughout the year.
As coaches, we are proud to see that the things we have worked when put into practice have worked well for the team.
Our mid courters, Courtney Morrow, Bethany Griffiths, Carlia Byron and Hayley Reading, have worked hard to understand each other's games.
They have been applying constant pressure on their opponents and moving the ball smoothing down the court.
Lisa Fleming and Ellen Williams are our ever reliable defenders having played together for many years they are a very well oiled defence.
All girls played a fantastic game on Saturday and fought all the way, but we just couldn't get the job done. We had many opportunities throughout the game but they threw the ball away and made silly mistakes and Horsham capitalised on these. Horsham have had a wonderful season, congratulations to them (Horsham defeated Stawell 51-36).
To top the season off we were awarded the Spirit of Netball Team of the Year award and Spirit of Netball Coaches' award which was a huge surprise and a great way to finish the season.
The girls play a very fair and clean style of netball and this has obviously been seen by the umpires who have voted throughout the season. Hopefully we can be there again next year and go one better.
