MCDFNL - Navarre under seventeen netballers went down to Carisbrook by four goals in a nail biting Maryborough Castlemaine District Football and Netball League grand final contest.

The Grasshoppers were within striking distance, but in the end Carisbrook were too strong.
Navarre started the game with a few nerves, however they were able to keep in touch with a two goal deficit at quarter time.
Playing their best netball in the second quarter, found them outscoring Carisbrook by two goals.
Carisbrook headed into the final quarter with a three goal lead. Navarre took the lead in the last two and a half minutes, however, Carisbrook came back strong, throwing five consecutive goals to take the premiership win 30-26.
Meaghan Armstrong received umpire's 'best on court' with her solid work in defence, while MacKenzie Pyke was also recognised for her strong work at bringing the ball down to the goalies.
While the girls were disappointed with their loss, they should be very proud of their efforts.
Navarre A grade netballers suffered an upset with their grand final hopes dashed by Lexton at the weekend.
Navarre headed into the game knowing they had a tough road ahead of them and Lexton were just too good on the day.
They were effective with their pressure, forcing Navarre to make small errors across the court.
Navarre started the game slowly, with little going their way.
This forced the girls to play catch up netball for the rest of the game. The second quarter showed a glimmer of hope with Navarre outscoring Lexton by two goals, but Lexton hit back with fortitude running out premiership winners 45-27.
Despite their disappointing loss, the girls held their heads high and played the game out to the very end, which is a credit to them all.
Lauren Armstrong worked hard in the mid-court receiving umpire's 'best on court' for Navarre.
Lauren Tickner was also recognised by the umpires for her positive talk and tight defence.
