Naomi has joined forces with Grampians Pharmacy in Stawell, Halls Gap Primary School, Hannah Shea of Ararat and Beth Johnson and Fetima Pollock of Horsham, to collect sanitary items for Share the Dignity.
Share the Dignity is an Australia-wide organisation that assists women in at risk situations.
“I am very passionate about this issue,” Naomi said.
“No woman should have to suffer the indignity of of going without basic sanitary items such as tampons or pads.
“Unfortunately, in these types of circumstances, choosing to go without in order to afford food, is a real problem many of these women have to face.”
Naomi said she had been thrilled with the support from communities across the Wimmera.
“I have been overjoyed at the positive response this campaign has received,” she said.
“Share the Dignity’s #itsinthebag is a campaign that is really worth backing and the support it has received already in this district, is evidence that many people share in this view and that is wonderful.”
Residents are being asked to fill an old handbag with sanitary items, supermarket vouchers, deodorant, razors, anything apart from food or pharmaceuticals and drop them off at Grampians Pharmacy or the Halls Gap Primary School. Final collections will be at Horsham December 5, Ararat December 16 and Stawell and Galls Gap December 17.
