The 2016 calendar features the work of artists who support WAMA.

The WAMA volunteers are now busy selling the calendars in and around Stawell. In the next few weeks you will see them at Shop 108 Main Street (December 11-12), outside Woolworths (December 17) and also at the Newmarket Gold Stawell Christmas Races on Saturday, December 12.

Patron of the Wildlife Arts Museum of Australia, Glenda Lewin said the calendars were a fantastic way to help boost fundraising for the organisation.

“The calendars make great Christmas gifts and 100% of the proceeds go to much needed WAMA fundraising,” Mrs Lewin said.

The concept of selling the colourful calendars came about when Glenda Lewin met Chrissie Goldrick, Editor in Chief at Australian Geographic.

Mrs Lewin invited Ms Goldrick to the WAMA site, located between Pomonal and Halls Gap, for a working bee.

When Chrissie accepted the invitation, it kick started the process.

“I was delighted that Chrissie came to see the site first hand,” Mrs Lewin said.

“She spent time taking photos and chatting with volunteers and planting trees. Since, she has become a great supporter of the WAMA vision.”

In Chrissie’s words, “this is our 26th annual art calendar and we are thrilled with this new and refreshed format. We would like to convey our most sincere thanks to all those wonderful artists who contributed their exquisite works to the calendar”.

WAMA is a visionary project to create a wildlife art museum within an Australian botanical landscape.

It will be located on a beautiful site between Pomonal and Halls Gap and be a fantastic facility for the region, attracting national and international tourism, and bringing in funding and creating local jobs.
