Traditional favourites such as the horse show, hall and photography exhibits, sheaf tossing and Highland dancing will again feature.
The Beaut Ute, car and bike competition will return, along with ferret racing, the BMX bike riders, live music and the Stawell Gold Mine display.
An exciting new attraction this year will be a working sheepdog exhibition.
Children can enjoy Professor Wallace’s Puppet Theatre, the animal nursery, Barn Buddies Petting Farm and taking part in the tiny tot and showgirl competitions.
Barry Clugston and Karen Hyslop will rove the show with microphones to highlight points of interest and activity throughout the day.
At 12.45pm, Councillor Kevin Erwin will officially open the 2015 Stawell Show.
Daryl Mair will be in attendance to provide first aid services.
Stawell Riding for the Disabled will have a barbecue, sandwich and hot and cold drink stall operating throughout the day.
I would like to sincerely thank the many sponsors, members of the various committees and all other volunteers whose commitment and financial support are vital for us to put together the best possible show for the community. We hope to see you all at the 2015 Stawell Show.

Tyre recycling threat
AS a local resident, I am very concerned about the announcement by Dr Matthew Star of the Used Tyre Recycling Corporation (UTRC) regarding his company’s plans to recycle the local tyre dump.
While the tyre dump is a local concern, UTRC has no track record in recycling tyres; how can we trust that they will reduce the problem?
UTRC seem to have no customers, so how do we know we arent swapping one stockpile of tyres for another of crumbed tyres or "carbon black" or burnt oil?
As a retired chemical engineer, I have experience in looking at recycled oils and can assure you these products are worthless. I would like to see greater community consultation from the local council, UTRC and the EPA about this issue.

Ride for a good cause
SIMPLY because they can, a group of mates are riding the length of the mighty Murray River on old Postie Bikes while cross-dressed to raise funds for the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute.
Following the entire length of the Murray River from the very beginning high in the mountains of Mt Kosciuszko National Park at Khancoban (NSW) to the mouth at the Southern Ocean near Adelaide at Goolwa, the Cross-Dressed Team will be dressed in Tu-Tu’s the entire way.
This ride is in memory of well-known Horsham businessman Kevin Morrow, the father, grandfather and friend to all 10 riders who sadly passed away in August 2014. Since Kevin’s passing the Cross-Dress for Cancer Team, led by his sons, Wade, Shannon and Gavin have raised over $25,000 already for the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute based Ballarat through a variety of events and promotions.
It was the Director at the Institute, Professor George Kannourakis, whose outstanding care and treatment of Kevin during his battle with cancer that inspired his family and friends to support the Institute.
Through world-class research the Institute aims to bring hope to those touched by cancer and to advance the understanding and treatment of cancer by making an internationally recognised contribution to cancer research.
