The dinner meeting was held at Diamond House and Rotarians were joined by guests and a guest speaker.
After the usual delicious meal, President Pauline introduced the recipients of the ‘Are You Being Served’ certificates.
District Governor Jane Cox and Rotarian Kimberley Gehan presented the awards to Ms Laetitia Eckman, who represented winning business Fisher's IGA Supermarket and Mr Grant Meadows, who was voted the employee giving the most professional service.
Rotarian John Launder gave a brief report on the alternative schoolies project - the Cambodian Discovery Tour for Secondary College Students.
President Pauline introduced guest speaker John Tiddy (a photographer from Stawell Camera Club) who did a Power Point presentation called Meet your Neighbours.
The presentation consisted of photos of insects, flowers and bird life from in and around Stawell.
John explained how he goes about setting up for his photos and at the same time he gave members a run down on the benefits and life cycles of some insects.
In all, it was a very interesting presentation.
Rotarian Kaye Harris thanked John and presented him with a Rotary mug.
Not to be overlooked was John Artz’ 70th birthday.
John was presented with a card and a cake as members sang Happy Birthday.
President Pauline introduced the District Governor Jane Cox.
Jane had met with the President Pauline Shirrefs, Secretary Kaye Harris and Treasurer John Artz earlier in the day to discuss the club’s plans and direction for the coming year.
Jane gave a report on the Rotary Club of Stawell and recent projects.
She also spoke about membership and retention, encouraging members to be a Gift to the World, and attend the district conference to be held in Geelong next March.
To this end, District Governor Cox presented President Pauline with a lucky cray-pot float. Rotarian Kevin Erwin then thanked Jane and presented her with a hamper of local goodies.
Rotary holds weekly meeting throughout the year at the S A Mission Centre on Wimmera St. Members gather at 6.30pm for friendship and a chat and a meal commencing at 7pm.
