Local woolgrowers Everard and Matthew Linke and family, “Glenholme”, Tarrington will be in attendance as one of three finalists.
This family farm is a long-time producer of quality superfine wool who owners have never deviated from breeding and preparing wool clips of the highest standard.
"At Vitale Barberis Canonico, we keep a record of every wool clip purchased for our use. We have been collecting this data for over 20 years,” Mr. Fontaneto said.
“These finalists appear time and time again in our data, and a very high proportion of their production is selected in our very best 'types.
“I am not talking a few bales. I am talking about commercial quantities of the highest quality wool. This is what the Wool Excellence Award and Club is all about.”
To recognise the very best wool clip suitable for Vitale Barberis Canonico, the awardee will be presented with an all-expenses-paid visit to Italy to meet with Vitale Barberis Canonico representatives.
They will also be given the chance to experience first hand the wonderful transformation of the highest quality raw material into some of the most luxurious fabrics in the world.
The wool producer recognised at the award award last year, the Hawksford family of “Glenburnie”, Kentucky, travelled to the Biella region of northern Italy in June as guests of the wool mill and enjoyed tours of the Vitale Barberis Canonico spinning and weaving operations.
Wool producers attending this upcoming prestigious event are drawn from an elite “Club” formed in the first months of 2015.
These growers have been specially selected by Vitale Barberis Canonico as preferred suppliers of the highest quality raw material.
Members of the Vitale Barberis Canonico Wool Excellence Club have been meticulously selected via a set criteria including wool quality (wool most suitable for the high-end fabric production Vitale Barberis Canonico is renowned for), and sustainable wool production objectives.
The October Award will be the culmination of a judging process involving the very best wool suitable for Vitale Barberis Canonico produced in the 2014/15 wool selling season.
Three farms have been recognised as finalists and these wool growers will be especially flown into Sydney for the award.
All members of the Vitale Barberis Canonico Wool Excellence Club need to be accredited under the SustainaWOOL Integrity Scheme, a scheme sponsored by Vitale Barberis Canonico and managed by their agency, New England Wool.
