The Cues were an early favourite with a stellar start to the season, but in recent weeks both the Gift Shooters and Eight Ball Rollers have thrown their hat in the ring.
All three teams were comfortable winners this week with the Cues defeating Mighty Helpful 10-5, Eight Ball Rollers defeating Gift Hotel 9-6 and Gif Shooters defeating the Underdogs 11-4.
The Cues lost just one game in the opening two rounds to produce a seven game lead over their opposition.
Mighty Helpful fought back in the final round with four wins, but it was a case of too little too late.
Matt Tyers and Daniel Digney were both undefeated on the night.
Carl Kingdom put in a good performance winning two games for his team in what was a less than average night for Mighty Helpful.
Eight Ball Rollers took their time to overcome Gift Hotel.
Victorian representative Jacinta McMaster had a tough night at the table losing each of her macthes, but fortunately for her her teammates were able to counteract the Gift Hotel challenge.
Eight Ball Rollers won four games in the first round two in the second and finished the third and final round even to win by three games.
Gift Shooters continue to be the in form team of the competition with another convincing win.
Gift Shooters took an early lead and were able to extend the margin to win by seven games.
Glen Cooney, Amy Robson and Jason Lewis were all undefeated on the night for Gift Shooters.
Renegades were able to upset A Frew Good Men 8-7.
Jon Wilson led Renegades to victory with three successful games.
Gaff had the most impressive win of the night over struggling team Brix Bandits.
Gaff won 12 of the possible 15 games allowing Brix just three lots of success.
The competition is looking to be extended for its upcoming season to start in the middle of Novemeber.
The Stawell Eight Ball Association would like to see some old and new faces return to the comeptition to take full advantage of the additional facilities.
