Wildcats have been gifted an extra week before they open their season with both the men and women facing a bye in the first round.
The Wildcats men will have a strong chance of opening their account with a win when they take on Timboon in round one next Saturday night.
The ladies will wait until Sunday to take on Warrnambool at the Stawell Leisure Complex where the men will follow.
Wildcats men would like to think they have improved their list from previous season with the inclusion of power forward Jesse Poulton.
While the ladies have added sharp shooter Kathryn Dibella to their list and the height and experience of Andrea Monaghan.
Coaches Ben Leslie and Grace Bibby will coach from the sidelines and on court as they elect to be playing coaches.
Courtney Morrow and Jarred Ohayon will take captain honours for each team.
Both teams are still looking for assistant coaches and the mens team are in need of a team manager.
Split n Stawell signed on to be the major sponsor of the Stawell Wildcats Basketball Association two weeks ago and the Wildcats couldn't be happier about their new partnership.
